Many of our customers have relied on free LMI data in the past, and find it can offer a reasonable picture of jobs and skills demand. However the major advantage of real-time data such as Labour Insight over free LMI data is that it is far more up to date, and this is the reason they become Labour Insight users in the first instance. The Office of National Statistics produce great data but it usually has a processing time of months or years which is not always helpful in our fast changing employment landscape.
Real time, paid-for LMI tools do provide a significantly more detailed picture of the labour market, enabling the user to analyse on a much more granular level, which gives a far more accurate picture of the labour market – it’s current and future requirements.
We’ve put together the following chart to summarise the differences in the search criteria and functionality between Labour Insight, and free LMI data sources.
