There were 6,410,903 job postings in this period – that’s 7.36% fewer than in 2019.
The most advertised roles in 2020 were:
- Software Developer (230,196 jobs advertised)
- Registered Nurse (224,858)
- Office / Admin assistant (158,018)
- Caregiver (143,491)
The employers with the most job openings in 2020 were:
- NHS
- Tesco
- Amazon
The top locations for advertised jobs (after London) were:
- Manchester (143,841 jobs)
- Birmingham (121,645)
- Bristol (97,758)
- Leeds (83,551)
The mean advertised salary in 2020 was £36,300.
The top baseline skills requested by employers were:
- Communication skills (33% of all roles require this skill)
- Organisational skills (14%)
- Planning (13%)
The top computer skills requested by employers:
- Excel (10% of all roles require this skill)
- Office (6%)
- SQL (4%)
