There were 6,410,903 job postings in this period – that’s 7.36% fewer than in 2019.

 

The most advertised roles in 2020 were:

  • Software Developer (230,196 jobs advertised)
  • Registered Nurse (224,858)
  • Office / Admin assistant (158,018)
  • Caregiver (143,491)

The employers with the most job openings in 2020 were:

  • NHS
  • Tesco
  • Amazon

The top locations for advertised jobs (after London) were:

  • Manchester (143,841 jobs)
  • Birmingham (121,645)
  • Bristol (97,758)
  • Leeds (83,551)

The mean advertised salary in 2020 was £36,300.

 

The top baseline skills requested by employers were:

  • Communication skills (33% of all roles require this skill)
  • Organisational skills (14%)
  • Planning (13%)

 

The top computer skills requested by employers:

  • Excel (10% of all roles require this skill)
  • Office (6%)
  • SQL (4%)
