International students bring value and create jobs
International students bring great benefits to the UK, enhancing the experience of domestic students, developing the UK’s international networks and reputation, and boosting national and local economies. On and off campus spending by international students and their visitors generated £25.8 billion in gross output in the UK in 2014–15*.
“Over 17,000 students in the UK are from the US – that’s 10% of all international students studying in the UK” comments Christian Bowman, MD at Active – UK reseller of Labour Insight. “Universities are focusing more on targeted international recruitment. Understanding the US labour market in detail is crucial to ensuring their curriculums remain relevant to the market. The data can also help pinpoint organisations in the US for ‘study abroad’ opportunities for UK students so the benefits are many-sided.”
